Cruise Itinerary
Budapest - On arrival in Budapest, you’ll be met by a member of the Rivera team and transferred to your ship. Our welcoming, English-speaking crew will be ready to assist you in finding your cabin. After settling in, take some time to explore the many first-class amenities before sitting down to your first delicious dinner in our stylish onboard restaurant. We’ll remain moored in Budapest overnight.
Arrive 2027-11-05 00:00:00Budapest - Although divided by the Danube River, the twin cities of Buda and Pest have been unified since 1873. Buda, sitting on the western side, offers fairytale architecture, pretty promenades and wooded hills whilst Pest, to the east, is known for its lively and more modern atmosphere with plenty of trendy bars, cafés and restaurants.Through the centuries, this land has been shaped by struggle and resilience. The Ottomans ruled for 150 years before their departure in the late 17th century. Their enduring legacy continues to thrive in the form of thermal baths nourished by healing hot springs, earning Budapest its inspiring title – the ‘City of Spas’.At the end of the Ottoman rule, it became the imperial city of the Habsburg Empire, attracting great cultural and commercial wealth, before contending with the atrocities of fascism and communism. Yet despite its dark past, Hungary’s gorgeous capital emerged as one of the most vibrant, fascinating cities in Europe - and one of the most beautiful. Here contemporary cool and old-school grandeur mix effortlessly, and all with a distinctly Hungarian flavour. On our guided tour this morning, we'll see all the ways in which Budapest lives up to its reputation as the ‘Pearl of the Danube’, from Castle Hill to the awe-inspiring neo-Gothic Parliament Building. The outstanding Art Nouveau and Secessionist architecture and excellent shopping offer a fittingly elegant start to your Danube cruise. But that's not all Budapest has to offer - there are endless galleries and museums to explore, including the Museum of Fine Art which is home to masterpieces by Raphael, Giorgione, Titian, Tintoretto, and Tiepolo. Or perhaps visit a cosy café or bar and enjoy a more relaxing start to your discovery tour. Not sure where to start? Talk to your expert Tour Manager or local guide and get their recommendations for things to see and do!In the early evening, we'll begin our journey upstream towards Bratislava so this evening, relax and enjoy views of the riverbanks gliding by.
Arrive 2027-11-06 00:00:00Bratislava - Relax over a leisurely breakfast as the fairytale landscape glides by through the ship's panoramic windows. After lunch on board, we disembark for a tour of Slovakia's capital city.Bratislava is a city where history meets modernity, where intimate charm replaces the bustle of larger capitals, and where every street corner whispers stories of the past. The city boasts a rich history, neoclassical and gothic architecture and a welcoming atmosphere that captivates every visitor. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, we'll explore the old town, a picturesque maze of cobblestone streets, pastel-coloured buildings, and lively squares as we wind our way up to Bratislava Castle perched high on a hill overlooking the city. After time to admire the panoramic views of the city and the Danube, we'll carry on to Michael's Gate, the only surviving medieval gate of the city's original fortifications and into the heart of the modern city. At the end of our guided tour, you're free to explore this charming capital at leisure before dinner on board this evening. You could head to the riverside district, a sleek promenade lined with cosy cafés, boutique shops, and cultural venues, making it a hub of activity day and night. Or check out the quirky UFO Observation Deck across the river from St Martin's Church - it's a futuristic structure offering 360-degree views and a sky-high dining experience. Perhaps, instead, you'll stop in at one of the local bars to sample wines from the surrounding Little Carpathians region, renowned for its centuries-old winemaking traditions. After dinner this evening, enjoy a classical string quartet performance in our cosy on-board lounge and bar. As we prepare to set course for the City of Music, Vienna.
Arrive 2027-11-07 00:00:00Vienna - Wake up in Vienna - Austria's capital and cultural heart - where time-honoured traditions and artistic elegance meet modern sophistication. This morning, we'll explore its symphony of history, culture, and beauty on a guided tour as our local guide offers insights into why Vienna is one of Europe's great capitals.Vienna's streets are like an open-air museum, from the grandeur of the Ringstrasse boulevard to the iconic spires of St. Stephen's Cathedral. You can lose yourself in the charm of the historic Innere Stadt with its narrow alleys, chic boutiques, and traditional coffee houses. At the centre of the city lies the majestic Hofburg Palace, a sprawling complex that once served as the winter residence of the Habsburg dynasty. It's home to the lavish Imperial Apartments and an outstanding collection of relics of the Holy Roman Empire, including, allegedly, the sabre of Charlemagne himself. After a morning exploring Vienna's grand palaces and soaking in the romance of its streets, we'll head back to the ship for lunch and an afternoon sailing back towards Budapest. This evening, we have something special in store as our talented crew presents the Chef's Dinner - a sumptuous five-course meal filled with local flavours.

We are a well-travelled collective - made up of our guests as well as our team. We'll admit it - we're obsessed with travel.
But that's not our only interest. We also love architecture, history, the arts, and gastronomy - everything that makes a culture unique. And we plan our itineraries to ensure we're catering to those interests. Perfecting every excursion to ensure you get the most out of your onshore adventures.
Most days are filled with full or half-day excursions. Whether that's a city tour, an introduction to a brand-new town or a more in-depth visit to a specific landmark or attraction. You'll see the very best of every destination. Not just the legendary locations, we'll uncover the top-secret local spots too.
Please note: as Riviera Reflection has yet to launch, images shown are of sister ship, Riviera Radiance or Riviera Resplendence.
World-famous landmarks
You'll get to experience some world-famous destinations in the company of our passionate local guides. Sites like the Benedictine Melk Abbey on the Danube, spectacular Pont du Gard on the Rhône, Keukenhof Gardens - the world's largest flower gardens - on the Dutch Waterways and Cologne with its cathedral, the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe.
A taste of your destination
Food has the uncanny ability to reveal the softer parts of the destination most tourists overlook. Recipes passed down through the generations slowly become ingrained within a culture, featuring fresh local produce and traditional cooking techniques. Our excursions often include delicious local produce perfected over centuries - sample cheese in Switzerland and chocolate in Germany (it's not a cruise for those watching their weight), wine tasting in the world-famous wine region of Burgundy and port in the port wine cellars of Porto.
For even more, why not choose one of our Gastronomy themed departures?
Authentic cultural experiences
Our river cruise itineraries deliver authentic and engaging moments to fully immerse you in the culture. You'll remember being seduced by the fiery passion of flamenco dancing after a cruise along the Douro. Hold on to that feeling of wonder you felt as you watch the glassblower creating the most beautiful vase out of a glowing mass. And tell the stories you heard during a Hungarian folklore show to your grandchildren at bedtime. The memory of these authentic cultural experiences will last a lifetime.
At the heart of the ship, the Diamond Deck is home to the welcoming Panorama Lounge and Bar. From here, you can take in ever-changing views, watching charming villages and riverside life as they drift past. As the day draws to a close, guests naturally gather here to share stories from the day’s discovery. Return after dinner to enjoy a digestif and the evening’s entertainment.

Located on the Ruby Deck is the lobby area, where your Cruise Director is usually on hand, while the reception desk is staffed 24 hours a day should you need assistance. Nearby, our boutique shop is lovely for a browse.

Up on the Sun Deck, life glides by to a sun-drenched rhythm. Settle into a comfortable lounger and admire the scenery, sip a cocktail, or cool off with a refreshing dip in the plunge pool when the day warms up. It’s the perfect place to relax.
Please note: as Riviera Reflection has yet to launch, images shown are of sister ship, Riviera Radiance or Riviera Resplendence.
On the Emerald Deck you’ll find the fitness centre, ideal for working off those indulgent meals. For something relaxing, why not treat yourself to a soothing massage in the spa?

There is no requirement to bring formal dress - smart/casual is acceptable for both day and evening as there is no dress code enforced. However, men are requested not to wear shorts for dinner or vest tops at any time in the dining room. You may wish to wear a jacket and tie for dinner. The Chef's Dinner offers the opportunity, should you wish, for more special attire.
The minimum age limit is 12 years old at the date of departure. We reserve the right to limit the number of children on any particular cruise. Any minor must be accompanied by and share a cabin with an adult aged 21 or over. If the adult is not the minor’s parent, a ‘Parental Consent Guardianship Form’ must be signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to sailing.
If you have any concerns about your health whilst on tour, please see your Cruise Director or Concierge. They will be able to advise you about chemists and availability of doctors, etc. In an emergency you could always phone our emergency number as issued on your itinerary. There are no on-board medical personnel, although specific crew members will have basic first aid training. However, the ship can stop at any time to transfer any passenger requiring emergency medical attention to local medical facilities.
We want to ensure you make the correct choice before you book your holiday with us.
Our ships are not adapted for wheelchair access. If you are intending to take a wheelchair or mobility scooter with you, it is essential that you contact us to let us know.
Wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be used on excursions but they cannot be used on board the ships due to safety reasons and must not be left in corridors, the lounge or restaurant or any other public areas. They must be stored in your cabin.
River cruises operate with a smaller crew than ocean cruises and do not have the crew available to personally attend to passengers with reduced mobility, therefore a travelling companion would need to be able to help with any physical needs.
The itinerary we include with our river cruises involves shore excursions visiting places with cobbled streets which can be on an incline making navigation of these streets difficult for anyone with reduced mobility.
If you can’t do many shore excursions, river cruising in Europe can still be very enjoyable and worthwhile. Cruising down the Rhine, Danube or any of the European rivers we offer gives you the opportunity to take in the spectacular scenery and there is a lot to enjoy from the comfort of the ship. Please contact us with any concerns you may have.
Whilst most of our ships have a lift on board, it does not operate to all decks.
We include mobility information regarding lifts between decks on each ship under the deck plan section of the page. You may wish to view all of our ships before booking.
Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted anywhere on board except for designated areas on the sun deck. More and more countries in Europe are adopting a stricter legislation on smoking in public places.
Smoking is not allowed on any public transport and there may be other restrictions in hotels, bars and restaurants.
Free Wi-Fi available for your convenience
Our ships are fully air-conditioned throughout. Each cabin has individual air-conditioning and heating controls.
We cater for most dietary requirements, please ensure you advise our sales team when making the booking.
